Friday Nights (February 17th, 24th, and March 3)
The 2023 CrossFit Games Open kicks off in just a few weeks. The Open is a 3 week event where the CrossFit Games team release an unknown workout every Thursday night and athletes have until Monday night to submit scores on the worldwide leaderboard. Technically this is the first step for those who are hoping to qualify for the CrossFit Games.
But for us mere mortals it is our annual opportunity to:
- To step out of our comfort zone together. To share in the discomfort of workouts that are being taken on around the world and to celebrate our achievements and our struggles.
- To measure ourselves against other in the gym, our area, our age group, our profession.
- To have fun being awesome on Friday nights. Work hard then play a little.
This year Cate is heading up The Black Wolf Open. She will be creating a fun team competition with a leaderboard updated each week. And the winning team will receive prizes on top of our love and admiration.
Of course, when it comes to the Open, everyone is a winner.
That is because the Open is for everyone. Just like our daily workouts, Open workouts are infinitely scalable. And there is even an official scaled division for those who want to officially sign up on Games.CrossFit.com. You do not have to be the best athlete to be great. As always, you just have to be willing to try.
For the Black Wolf Open specifically, no Games.CrossFit.com registration is required. Instead, registration will be through Black Wolf and the money will be used to facilitate the events and to create the prizes for the winning team.
I will post more information as the first Friday Night gets closer.
